Governance
Island Pacific School is a broad community of individuals including members of Island Pacific School Society, students, parents and other community volunteers, alumni and parents of alumni, teachers, donors and other financial supporters. The members are committed to excellence in teaching and advancing the learning objectives of fostering scholarship, citizenship, leadership and self-advocacy.
The membership and governance structure of Island Pacific School is transparent, collaborative, accessible and accountable and is designed to encourage involvement of all parents, alumni and volunteers in the life of the school, while allowing members a voice in the governance of the Society.
The Board of Directors is composed of a minimum of 6 directors, four of whom must be parents of IPS students. Each director serves a three year term with a third of the Board retiring annually. Nominations for new directors are made by both the Board of Directors and the Membership. An additional director, the “Director of Alumni Relations” is nominated and elected by the Alumni.
A Senior Advisory Council composed of the school founder, past Board members and other persons that have demonstrated a strong commitment to Island Pacific School and it’s mission, provides long-term advice to the Board and the Head of School and shares the Council members’ history, experience and insights in respect of their previous and current commitment to the school.
