Commuting

From North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Downtown

Some of our students commute daily from North Vancouver and West Vancouver by taking the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Snug Cove, Bowen Island. The Queen of Capilano is operated by B.C. Ferry Corporation. Students walk-on the ferry and the crossing takes approximately twenty-minutes. The ferry is free for students.
See BC Ferries schedule >

In Snug Cove a transit bus waits for IPS students and drives them directly to the school. Regular student transit fares apply for this service. Some students choose to walk the fifteen-minute trek from Snug Cove to IPS. At the end of school day students take a transit bus back from IPS to Snug Cove. Students usually take the 4 pm or 5 pm crossing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There is an early dismissal on Wednesdays so students can catch the 3 pm ferry back to Horseshoe Bay.

Vancouver Metro

For students living in False Creek, Yaletown, Fairview Slopes, Shaughnessy, the West End, Granville Island, or the west side of Vancouver there is a water taxi service that connects Granville Island to Bowen Island. The thirty-minute commute from the heart of Vancouver to Snug Cove, Bowen Island is run by Granville Island Taxi Services. The Head of School uses this safe, reliable, and fun mode of transportation daily by catching the 7:30 am sailing from the foot of Bridges Restaurant. There are multiple crossings per day, including weekends. (See English Bay Launch water taxi schedule >
