Community Faculty
Community faculty addresses the school at assemblies. These guests share their professional, personal, artistic, and travel experiences with our students in ways that help them understand that living successfully and purposefully means different things to different people.
This past year community faculty members like Noble Kelly (Teachers Without Borders), and Glenna Mitchell (BC Cancer Society) described how their work helped make local sick children healthy and impoverished third world children “hungry to learn”.
Community faculty expand our students’ understanding of the world and their relationship to it. They may speak about different local and global issues, but community faculty have in common an appreciation that middle school students can be called on to make a positive difference in the world. It is not uncommon for IPS alumni, parents, and friends of the school to serve the school in this way.
