Assessment
The selective admissions procedure has been established to identify students who will thrive in a school that challenges them to think critically. The program requires that applicants demonstrate a readiness for the demands of an enriched academic curriculum as well as a willingness to participate in co-curricular opportunities that exist for students at every grade. Small group admissions’ testing is carried out in the spring followed by an individual achievement test that measures a student’s reading comprehension, writing, and numeracy skills. The assessment takes about two hours in total. We don’t usually accept Grade 9 students into the class because of the demanding Masterworks project, but some exceptional cases warrant admitting an especially committed new student.
